The Jordan Industrial Estates Corporation (JIEC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Jordan Exports company to support and develop national exports and promote economic growth. According to a JIEC statement on Sunday, the agreement was signed by the corporation’s Director General Omar Jweed and Jordan Exports Director General Omar Qaryouti. The MoU stipulates that the two sides join hands to support and stimulate Jordanian exports and support small-, medium- and large-sized companies by implementing activities with the private sector and exporters to introduce modern methods of promoting and developing exports, in addition to exploring the available export opportunities and investment incentives in the industrial cities and raising awareness of free trade agreements and exchanging information and data. The company indicated that the names and contact information of 860 industrial companies operating under the JIEC will be included in a platform launched recently by Jordan Exports at https://jordanexportportal.gov.jo. Additionally, information about the investment environment in the Jordanian industrial cities will be available on the platform for businessmen and investors. The corporation’s Director General Omar Jweed said the agreement aims to promote local exports and serve the industrial investor, especially with regard to export activity, pointing to free trade agreements that Jordan signed with many international trade blocs. He underscored the need to introduce the markets available to the Jordanian industrialist and exporter and networking between the Jordanian exporter and the various industrial and commercial sectors in the Arab countries and the world. For his part, Qaryouti stated that the memorandum of understanding covers several aspects of cooperation to implement joint programs that serve exporters in a clear institutional manner and provide services to Jordanian exporters according to a framework of action.
