The annual inflation rate in Sri Lanka was 53.6% last month, up from 53.2% in January, official figures showed on Tuesday.

Price increases were 57.4% for non-food products and 49% for food items, the country’s statistical office said.

The monthly inflation rate was 1.1% in February, up from 0.7% in January.

The IMF on Monday approved a bailout package worth $3 billion to support the cash-strapped South Asian country, which defaulted on its foreign debt last April.
