The Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Thursday launched a training program for English language students of the Al-Ahliyya Amman University on writing and editing English news. Khaled Al-Shboul, Petra’s Assistant Director General for Media Affairs, emphasized the importance of the training to help participants learn about the top industry standards for reporting and translating news. In addition to underscoring the agency’s pioneering role in reporting daily local events and news, Al-Shboul pointed to its main role as an official and national means of promoting and spreading culture among students in Jordanian media institutions. He underlined that writing and translating a press release requires significant editorial expertise and qualitative methods, adding that this course stems from the agency’s commitment to openness and cooperation with educational institutions and offering real-world experiences. For her part, Saeda Al-Sayed, head of the university’s department of English language and translation, lauded the agency’s support in training students so they could gain the knowledge and skills they need to use in their careers.
