RAMALLAH: President Mahmoud Abbas and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak discussed today the latest developments in the Palestinian arena, mainly the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip.

During a phone conversation, President Abbas stressed the need to stop Israeli attacks, stop targeting Palestinian civilians, and create safe corridors for the entry of medical and food relief as well as providing the Gaza Strip with water and electricity.

The President also stressed the need to prevent the Israeli attempts to displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, affirming this act is considered a second Nakba, similar to what happened in 1948.

He called on the British Prime Minister to work to prevent this from happening.

President Abbas reiterated his rejection of the killing of civilians on both sides, and the importance of releasing civilians and prisoners detained on both sides.

He reaffirmed adherence to international legitimacy and signed agreements, rejecting violence, and following political and legal
methods to achieve the national Palestinian goals.

The president added that peace and security can only be achieved through implementing the two-state solution based on international legitimacy resolutions and recognizing the state of Palestine.

For his part, the British Prime Minister extended his condolences to the victims of the Palestinian people.

He expressed Britain’s commitment to the two-state solution, its readiness to provide urgent humanitarian aid, and to work with all parties to stop the events taking place.

The British Prime Minister stressed the continuation of working with President Abbas and the legitimate Palestinian leadership that represents the Palestinian people.
