Sharjah Business Women Council Forges Partnership with Indian Counterpart

Sharjah: The Sharjah Business Women Council (SBWC) concluded a successful four-day trade mission to Mumbai, India, securing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry Ladies Organization (FICCI FLO). This collaboration signifies a new phase of cross-border engagement between women entrepreneurs in the UAE and India. According to Emirates News Agency, the mission involved high-level meetings and site visits, connecting SBWC members with over 70 Indian companies. The initiative aimed to bolster ties with potential partners, leveraging India's expertise in entrepreneurship and fostering collaboration in sectors such as technology, fashion, food and beverages, and jewellery. The delegation, led by Mariam Bin Al Sheikh, Director of SBWC, included Advisory Council Members Alya Taryam and Maitha Al Ansari, among others. Participants showcased their businesses and explored partnership opportunities with their Indian counterparts. Mariam Bin Al Sheikh stated , "Our mission over the past four days has created pathways for growth and collaboration, uniting our strengths to drive innovation and create a lasting impact. Together, we can redefine the future of business and inspire future generations." The MoU was signed by Mariam Bin Al Sheikh and Aarmeen Mogul Dordi, Chairperson of FICCI FLO Mumbai Chapter, witnessed by Consul General Abdulla Husein Al Marzooqi. The agreement seeks to enhance cooperation in key sectors and promote economic empowerment for women in both regions. The mission included B2B meetings and site visits to local businesses, offering insights into operational practices and industry trends. SBWC members represented Sharjah's fashion and jewellery sectors, with businesses like Harf w Nagsh Jewelry, Moza Jewelry, and Nooda La Moda participating. A significant event was the "Sharjah-India Women in Business Forum," featuring panel discussions on challenges facing female entrepreneurs and the role of mentorship and supportive policies. The forum f acilitated networking and set the stage for long-term partnerships. With bilateral trade between the UAE and India surpassing US$60 billion in recent years, the SBWC's mission aligns with broader efforts to enhance economic cooperation and empower women to expand their leadership roles in business.
