UAE Participates in GCC Transport Undersecretaries’ Meeting in Kuwait

Kuwait city: The UAE, represented by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI), took part in the 27th meeting of the Committee of Undersecretaries of Transport Ministries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, hosted in Kuwait. Official delegations from various GCC countries and representatives of the GCC Secretariat General attended the meeting.

According to Emirates News Agency, the UAE delegation was led by Sheikh Nasser Al Qasimi, Assistant Undersecretary for Infrastructure Regulation at MoEI. Al Qasimi highlighted the UAE's commitment to supporting the GCC's initiatives aimed at enhancing Gulf integration in the transport sector. This integration is seen as a vital contributor to sustainable development and aims to strengthen both economic and social cohesion among member states.

Al Qasimi noted significant developments in the transport sector across GCC countries. These advancements are propelled by ambitious national visions and strategies, which include major projects like the Gulf railway network and a shift towards smart and sustainable transport systems. These initiatives are designed to improve efficiency, reduce emissions, and align with the region's goals for sustainability and prosperity.

The meeting's agenda encompassed 25 items, including a review of the implementation of decisions from previous meetings. Discussions were held on reports from technical committees in the land, maritime, and air transport sectors. The agenda also included a review of the project to establish the Gulf Centre for Traffic Studies, the operational plan for 2026, and strategies to enhance international cooperation with relevant regional and global organizations.

Throughout the meeting, there was a strong emphasis on the importance of continued joint efforts to unify policies and legislation and to exchange expertise. These efforts aim to bolster the GCC states' position as a leading global hub in transport and logistics services.
