Abu Dhabi Strengthens Position as Global Hub for Family Capital and Long-Term Investment

Abu Dhabi:Abu Dhabi is solidifying its status as a leading global destination for family capital and long-term investment, as stated by Ali Mohamed Al Marzooqi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI). He highlighted the emirate's economic stability, sustained growth, and robust real economy as key factors attracting investors to build enduring businesses and partnerships.

According to Wam, Al Marzooqi shared these insights during a roundtable titled 'Abu Dhabi From Capital to Investment Opportunities' at the fourth Global Owners and Family Office Congress. This event, organized by Campden Wealth in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Family Business Council, took place in Abu Dhabi from October 19 to 22, 2026.

Al Marzooqi emphasized that family capital requires more than immediate returns; it seeks the assurance to plan for future generations. He pointed out that Abu Dhabi's stable environment and real growth provide the necessary conditions for such long-term investments. Highlighting the emirate's economic resilience, he noted that non-oil activity grew by over 6% annually from 2021 to 2024, contributing 54% of GDP in the third quarter of 2025. Furthermore, the UAE attracted US$48.3 billion in foreign direct investment in 2025, ranking ninth globally.

The director general also reported a significant increase in Abu Dhabi Chamber's membership, which rose from 131,000 in 2021 to approximately 174,000 companies, with a 10.4% growth in 2025. He identified sectors like industry, infrastructure, clean energy, digital transformation, and real estate as promising for patient capital. ADNOC's plans to award AED 200 billion in new projects and a pipeline of public-private partnerships underscore the emirate's investment potential.

Al Marzooqi highlighted that setting up a company is merely the start of an investment journey. The Chamber plays a vital role in connecting businesses with customers, partners, and markets. Since 2025, over 1,000 Chamber members have participated in its business matchmaking programs, and initiatives like Procurement Connect and Global Tenders offer access to procurement opportunities and international tenders.

He also noted the established presence of family businesses in Abu Dhabi's economy, facilitating international investors and family offices to engage with a well-experienced community. The Abu Dhabi Family Business Council provides governance, succession planning, and leadership development platforms, enhancing the emirate's appeal to global investors.

In conclusion, Al Marzooqi invited global investors to view Abu Dhabi not just as a place to manage capital but as a venue to create economic value, emphasizing the Chamber's readiness to connect them with the private sector.
