Istanbul, A new earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale struck today, Tuesday, Malatya, southeastern Turkey, less than 24 hours after the earthquake that struck the same state on Monday.

The Turkish Seismological Observatory said in a statement that the earthquake struck at 9:35 minutes local time, Yesilyurt area of Malatya state, and it was at a depth of 5.0 kilometers.

The Turkish Seismological Observatory did not mention in its statement any information about casualties or property losses as a result of the new earthquake.

On the other hand, the Turkish Disaster Management Authority announced that the number of victims of the earthquake that struck Malatya on Monday rose to two dead and 140 injured.

Yesterday, the province of Malatya was hit by a 5.6-magnitude earthquake, which also led to the collapse of 29 buildings.
