Damascus, SANA- A Pakistani aircraft loaded with relief aid for those affected by the earthquake arrived on Tuesday in Damascus International Airport.

In a statement to SANA reporter, Head of the Medical Relief Team, Dr. Fayez Ajakzi, who has arrived on the Pakistani plane, said that the Pakistani team includes 10 persons, among them doctors specialized in neurology and orthopedic surgery, and others specialized in relief.

Dr. Ajakzi stressed that they Pakistani team was delegated by the Pakistani government to exert aid to the Syrians in the inflicted areas due to the destructive earthquake and assist the medical teams in the treatment and relief work.

Ambassador of Pakistan in Damascus, Shahid Akhtar, said that this plane is the second one that was sent by Pakistan. It carries a medical team and assistance, consisting of 17 tons and 881 kg of foodstuff and medical supplies.

Ambassador Akhtar expressed his country will continue offering humanitarian aid to the Syrians as it will send two planes with medical and relief teams during the coming three days.

The Pakistani diplomat added that trucks loaded with large amounts of relief materials will arrive via the Syrian-Iraqi borders, noting that they are on their way to Syria.

For his part, Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabbaa hailed the response of the Pakistani government and people, describing it as “very distinguished”.

Dr. Tabbaa expressed Syria’s appreciation and thanks for Pakistan, calling on all the countries of the world to help the Syrian people who have been suffering due to the terrorist war waged against them for 12 years and they are facing the repercussions of the earthquake today.
