Amman – Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hneifat conducted a tour of the Southern Jordan Valley to assess the progress of agricultural food factories in the region. According to a statement during his visit, Hneifat reported that the construction of these facilities is approximately 80% complete. He announced the launch of two additional factories in the area, emphasizing the partnership with Jordan’s private sector in these initiatives.

According to Jordan News Agency, Hneifat noted that the establishment of five production lines, at an estimated cost of JD10 million, is underway. This investment is expected to generate about 500 job opportunities. The Minister highlighted the ministry’s ongoing efforts to modernize Jordan’s agricultural sector through the National Plan for Sustainable Agriculture. This plan includes market analysis, a shift to export agriculture, and the utilization of surplus production in food manufacturing. Hneifat also stated that most production lines would start operations at the beginning of the next year, contributing to job creation and reducing unemployment and poverty rates in Jordan. During his tour, he also inspected a dates sorting and grading factory with a production capacity of over 350 tonnes.
