Baghdad, The First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, affirmed the parliament’s keenness to issue transitional justice laws to end unjust discrimination, provide justice for the victims, and punish the criminals.

He said during his sponsorship today, Monday, of the dialogue forum that was set up by the Parliamentary Development Institute, entitled (The role of the legislative authority in promoting the protection of diversity and preventing discrimination), in the Parliament building and sectarian, to melt everyone into one form imagined by the dictator, calling for overcoming the negative effects of the scourge of discrimination through frankness, disclosure, and a precise understanding of problems and practical solutions to reach a state of societal harmony, peaceful coexistence, and acceptance of the other.

He added that the Iraqi constitution has endorsed the approach of pluralism and the protection of diversity, and thus began a new era of dealing based on rights endorsed by international human rights laws, adding that the House of Representatives has worked since 2003 until now to issue legislation related to lifting all forms of unjust discrimination, and repealing laws and decisions, which bears a racist nature, and the enactment of transitional justice laws that seek to redress the victims and punish the criminals, the last of which was the issuance of the Yazidi Survivors Law in 2021.
