ALGIERS, Algerian firefighters on Thursday brought under control a string of forest blazes that have killed 37 people and the injury of 183 people.

In a statement, Algerian civil defense authorities said 30 people were confirmed dead in Al-Tarf State, five in Souk Ahras State, and two in Satif State.

The statement noted their crews were able to put out fires in two other states and continue to battle blazes in the eastern states.
