Ambassador Khaddour: Coercive measures impede efforts of Syrian government to promote development, industrial sector

Vienna,-Syria’s permanent representative to the UN and other international organizations in Vienna, Ambassador Hassan Khaddour, affirmed that the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on Syria have undermined its ability to promote the development and industrial sector.

Khaddour, in a statement to the 49th session of the Industrial Development Council in Vienna, pointed out to the catastrophic impacts left by the conditions of the terrorist war on all sectors in Syria, particularly the industrial one, pointing out that the industrial areas were repeatedly targeted by armed terrorist organizations that stole factories and destroyed some of them.

At the same time, Khaddour stressed that the Syrian government has subsequently issued necessary legislations that meet the needs of society in line with the requirements of sustainable development, and it exerted efforts to address the negative consequences of these situations and make them in their minimum.

He expressed the Syrian government’s aspiration to establish fair global partnerships based on respect for the principles of international law and the provisions of UN charter, in order to support the efforts of the institutions of the Syrian state to overcome all the challenges imposed by the years of the terrorist war and the new obstacles left by the Corona pandemic and to achieve sustainable development goals far from politicization.
