Anadolu’s director general on Wednesday stressed the importance of cooperation between Balkan news agencies. Speaking to Anadolu after the general assembly of the Association of the Balkan News Agencies – Southeast Europe (ABNA-SE), Serdar Karagoz said ABNA-SE members would have an important role to play in bringing neighboring societies together and combatting fake news. Noting that the assembly was held in Greece’s northern port city of Thessaloniki, which is particularly important for Turks as it was the birthplace of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of the Republic of Trkiye, Karagoz expressed his joy in being in the city on the occasion. Anadolu will assume the presidency of ABNA-SE in 2024, Karagoz noted, adding that cooperation was already improving between member agencies. Drawing attention to the spread of fake news as Internet use has become more widespread, he said: “If there is fake news in a country, we will reach out to the news agency (there), which naturally would be the most credible news source in that country, to fact check.” US Fed expects another rate hike in 2023 as it keeps terminal rate unchanged
