AOUN CLOSELY MONITORS SITUATION ON LEBANESESYRIAN BORDER

President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, on Friday followed up closely on developments in progress since the early morning hours on the Lebanese-Syrian border near Arsal outskirts.

The President received reports from the competent security authorities on the situation, and the measures taken by the army command.

The security situation and the latest political developments were also on the agenda of President Aoun's discussions with Minister of State for Planning, Michel Pharaon.

"We conducted a review on current issues, in particular security developments on the border, the situation of Syrians, as well as the budget, and wage hike," Pharaon said after the meeting.

He also revealed that he had informed the head of state about his planning project, set up in cooperation with the United Nations.

Deputy Fadi Awar also visted Baabda to convey to the president the appreciation of Baabda residents for his patronage of the inauguration of the Qasmani dam.

Aoun also received former Minister Fawzi Hobeich, with whom he reviewed the country's administrative situation, reforms and the fight against corruption.

Minister Wiam Wahhab later had his share of talks with the President today. Talks between the pair reportedly touched on the latest developments.
