Cairo: The Arab League Council called on the United States on Monday to ensure a full and sustainable ceasefire in Gaza and to compel Israel to stop its aggression against the Palestinian people, withdraw from the Gaza Strip and lift the blockade on it, and curb its plans and efforts to forcibly displace them.
The Arab League Council, at the conclusion of the extraordinary session held at the level of permanent delegates today at the request of the State of Palestine and under the chairmanship of Morocco, in its resolution “On the continuation of Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people,” called on the Security Council not to shirk its responsibilities to maintain international peace and security.
It called for the adoption of a binding resolution to stop the systematic and widespread Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people, which endanger regional and international peace and security.
The Council agreed to form an open-ended committee of permanent delegates and the Secretariat to consider A
rab measures that can be taken at the legal, economic, political, and diplomatic levels to activate and implement the provisions of this resolution and to issue its report and circulate it to member states within one week of its date.
The Council affirmed that the Arab countries will not allow the repetition of the scenario of the Nakba in 1948 and will not be lax in confronting Israeli plans to displace the Palestinian people. They will take the necessary political, diplomatic, legal, and economic steps to prevent it, considering that the goal of forced displacement is to liquidate the Palestinian cause, which is the central issue of the Arab nation, stressing that this would take the region to new levels of conflict and instability.
The permanent delegates warned of the danger of Israel, the occupying power, planning and committing the crime of forcible displacement of about two million Palestinian citizens who have become internally displaced within the Gaza Strip, and its intentions to complete their di
splacement outside Palestinian territory by pushing them systematically towards the far south of the Gaza Strip near the border with Egypt, through the dropping of tens of thousands of tons of explosives, and what the Prime Minister of the occupation government and members of his government of extremists declare about their intentions and repeated demands to displace the Palestinian people.
