Cairo: The General Secretariat of the Arab League, represented by the League’s Social Affairs Sector and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) – the Regional Office, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday for a work plan under which social and development programs are implemented.

Assistant Secretary-General, Head of the Social Affairs Sector, Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, said that the plan focuses on implementing the policies, plans, and social and development programs in various fields and sectors of the common Arab social development work, especially those related to the social, humanitarian, and health conditions in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories.

Abu Ghazaleh expressed her hope that the Israeli aggression on the Strip and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories will be stopped immediately and that the bloodshed around the clock will stop, adding that the fall of innocent victims and the targeting of children, women, and isolated families in a collective puni
shment process must stop.

Abu Ghazaled said that the work plan’s priorities include people with disabilities, the elderly, and youth, as well as policies aimed at eliminating multidimensional poverty and issues related to the family, childhood, and health.
