Due to fan altercations in past years, UEFA will not let away fans enter either leg of this season’s UEFA Europa League quarterfinal between Dutch club Feyenoord and Roma, set to be played in the Netherlands and Italy. “There will be no away supporters at either leg of the UEFA Europa League quarter-final (between Feyenoord and Roma),” said a UEFA statement on Tuesday. “After consultation with all stakeholders, UEFA has required that no tickets are sold to away supporters in Rotterdam. This decision was taken on the basis of the UEFA Safety and Security Regulations following a thorough risk assessment and the requirement of the Italian authorities to not allow away fans at the Olimpico stadium in Rome.’ On April 13, Roma will visit Feyenoord in Rotterdam before the second leg in Rome on April 20. Before the May 2022 UEFA Europa Conference League final in Tirana, Albania, a riot by Roma and Feyenoord supporters ended up injuring 19 police officers. Last season Roma defeated Feyenoord 1-0 to win the inaugural Europa Conference League title. In 2015, in Rome, Feyenoord fans vandalized the 17th-century Barcaccia Fountain before a Europe League match against Roma. Repairing the damage to the fountain cost pound 75,000 ($82,250), and the fountain lost pound 1.2 million ($1.3 million) in value. Dutch fans have previously caused pound 5.2 million ($5.7 million) worth of damage, Italian media have reported.
