Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, Wajih Azaiza on Wednesday discussed with a delegation representing State Budget and Financial Affairs of Bavarian State Parliament , headed by Josef Zellmeier, ways to enhance joint cooperation with regard to political and partisan life. Speaking at the meeting, Azaiza said Jordan is moving “steadily” towards achieving the three political, economic and administrative modernization paths under His Majesty’s leadership. He also referred to the ministry’s role in the field of raising awareness of the local community, including youth and women, on the importance of participating in political life, according to a “systematic” program framework of political parties, to reach a partisan majority in Parliament to form parliamentary governments. The ministry, he noted, is working in partnership with multiple official institutions, local and international civil society organizations, and universities to acquaint citizens with constitutional amendments, legislation regulating Jordan’s political life, and election and party laws. This effort, he said, would contribute to strengthening the process of Jordan’s political modernization, expanding base of women and youth participation in political life and party programmatic work, and increasing their representation in Parliament, in conjunction with the start of the state’s bicentennial. In addition, Azaiza noted the ministry is looking forward to achieving further cooperation and partnerships and exchanging and benefiting from the two sides’ expertise. For their part, the parliamentary delegation stressed the “deep-rooted” Jordanian-German relations and the Kingdom’s role to reach an “effective” democracy. The two countries had multiple areas of previous cooperation on democratic life and aspire to make further collaboration on process of developing Jordan’s democratic process, the delegation said. The delegation noted Germany’s civil society institutions play their role in political and democratic awareness, pointing to the ministry’s “key” steps to raise community awareness on the importance of political life and party work.
