Azhar imam urges increasing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine

Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayyeb urged the international community to rapidly scale up humanitarian assistance to war-hit Ukraine and exert more efforts to put an end to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

Writing for the first time with the Ukrainian language on his Facebook and Twitter accounts, Tayyeb said that “What is going on in Ukraine, and with Ukrainians trying to escape to safety is a real test of our humanity.

He, meanwhile, called on the international community to increase humanitarian assistant to Ukraine and exert utmost efforts to end the war.

At the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, Tayyeb called for Russia and Ukraine to refer to the voice of reason, saying conflicts can only be settled through dialogue.
