Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) has honoured a number of citizens living near archaeological sites.

Collaborators with the authority within the community partnership initiative “Friends of Antiquities” have also been honoured during the ceremony which was held at the Bahrain National Museum.

BACA President Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa received the honorees and praised the efforts made by the local community, as well as cooperation to conserve heritage and archeological sites.

“The authority is seeks to involve the local community and all stakeholders in the efforts to preserve Bahrain’s antiquities and national in accordance with world standards and guidelines approved by international organizations such as UNESCO”, he said.

The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities launched the “Friends of Antiquities” community partnership initiative last year with the aim of enhancing the spirit of cooperation and joint work with the local community to preserve Bahrain’s archaeological heritage.
