The Ministry of Sustainable Development held a consultative workshop with a number of academics, as part of efforts to prepare Bahrain’s second voluntary national review on achieving the goals of sustainable development.

Sustainable Development Minister Noor bint Ali Al Khulaif and Higher Education Council (HEC) Secretary-General, HEC Board of Trustees’ Deputy Chairman, Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa addressed the session.

University of Bahrain President Dr. Jawaher Shaheen Al Mudhahki, and Dr. Maysa Youssef, Sustainable Development Officer at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia “ESCWA”, also delivered speeches.

The workshop highlighted Bahrain’s progress in achieving the 2030 Agenda by reviewing the initiatives and programs put forward by higher education institutions to align their outputs with the requirements of sustainable development.

The participants who took part in the workshop also discussed plans to deal with various environmental, social and economic challenges.
