Aizada Barieva, Head of the Climate Policy Department, Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, has called for serious international collaboration and concrete mechanisms to help developing and climate-affected countries adapt to climate change.

In an interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM) at COP28, she shared her country’s perspective on climate change, noting that Kyrgyzstan is participating in COP28 for the first time with a high-level delegation led by the President. This delegation, comprised of Ministers responsible for environment, finance, energy, economy, and health, aims to advocate for practical solutions to mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Despite being landlocked, Kyrgyzstan faces significant challenges due to climate change, including water scarcity, droughts, and glacial collapses. These glacial rivers, emphasised (Name ….), are the primary water source for both Kyrgyzstan and the entire Central Asian region.
