BEIJING: China’s electricity consumption, a key indicator of economic activity, experienced strong growth in the first two months of 2024, China Central Television reported.

Power consumption rose by 11 percent compared to the previous year, reaching 1.53 trillion kilowatt-hours.

Specifically, the power consumed by primary and secondary industries increased 11.1 percent and 9.7 percent yearly, respectively, while the power used by the tertiary sector soared 15.7 percent.

The data revealed that from January to February, China’s residential power use registered a 10.5 percent increase from the same period last year.
