China’s auto industry roared back in 2023, defying challenges to reach a historic milestone: production and sales both surpassed 30 million units, setting record highs for the year. This remarkable achievement showcases the industry’s resilience, vast potential, and the power of China’s massive market, according to China’s Economic Daily.

Though official figures by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers won’t be released until next week, December snapshots and year-to-date data suggest China’s auto industry crossed the 30 million production mark in 2023, setting a record high. This significant leap forward signifies a major turning point for the industry, paving the way for further growth and innovation, the newspaper added.

China’s annual car sales surpassed those of the United States in 2009, making it the world’s top-selling country. This record has been maintained for 15 consecutive years, the paper continued.
