RAMALLAH: Chinese Ambassador to Palestine, Zeng Jixin, today affirmed his country’s position in support of Palestine, stating that China stands on the side of equity and justice.

He affirmed that China strives to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, restore peace and protect civilians.

Speaking to several journalists at the Chinese embassy in Ramallah, he said that the war in the Gaza Strip, which the region has not experienced in decades, caused considerable casualties among the innocent and further widened the negative impacts.

‘China stands in solidarity with Arab and Islamic countries and supports the establishment of an independent Palestinian state,’ stressed the Chinese ambassador.

He stressed that during China’s presidency of the Council, it participated in draft resolutions submitted to the United Nations and pushed for the first resolution to be passed since the outbreak of the war on Gaza.

The ambassador said that China’s foreign minister held talks with the foreign ministers of Arab and Islamic count
ries at the UN headquarters in New York and issued a position paper on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
