Christmas Village Festival in Aleppo conveys a message of peace and love

Aleppo, SANA- With the participation of heads of the Christian denominations and a number of Islamic clerics, within the Christmas Village Festival, on Monday evening, the lighting of the Peace Tree and the Christmas Grotto was celebrated in al-Hatab Square in al-Jdaideih neighborhood in Aleppo Old City.

The ceremony included an evening of Christmas hymns performed by the Anglo Choir and songs by the Armenian Youth Association scout troupe.

Director of Public Relations for Christian Communities, George Bakhash, explained in a statement to SANA reporter the importance of today’s celebration of lighting the tree of peace, which coincides with the anniversary of the birth of Christ and Aleppo’s victory over terrorism, which is a message of joy and love to the world.

Archbishop Boutros Marayati, head of the Armenian Catholic community in Aleppo, said that this day embodies brotherhood and fraternity, as we all gather to celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ.

Boutros Kassis, Archbishop of the Syriac Orthodox Church in Aleppo, said that today’s celebration brings joy to all the people of Aleppo and conveys a message to all that Syria is the cradle of peace, security and love, and it will continue to give peace to the world.

“Today we have won by our presence in Al-Hatab Square, and Aleppo’s victory over terrorism coincides with Christmas and New Year’s holidays, and Syria is the cradle of civilizations.,” Dr. Harutyun Suleiman, head of the Armenian Protestant community in Syria, said.
