The Kingdom on Tuesday is forecast to come under the grip of a cold and wet air mass accompanied by a depression coming from central Europe, pushing temperatures down and bringing cold and cloudy weather with spotty showers in the western areas extending later to cover other regions, forecasters said. According to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD), rainfall will be heavy with thunder, hail, and lightning at times, causing flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, including the Dead Sea and Aqaba. Winds will be westerly with strong gusts, reaching 50k/h and blowing dust in the Badia. Additionally, the weather service issued alerts about flash floods, thunderstorms, slick roads, poor horizontal visibility due to dust, and strong winds. Mercury levels will continue to dip on Wednesday, becoming below the annual average by 3-4 degrees, and triggering cold conditions and cloudy skies with occasionally heavy downpours accompanied by thunder and hail in various regions. Toward night, the weather will start to stabilize as the precipitation will gradually decrease, the JMD noted. Mercury will rise a few degrees on Thursday. Therefore, relatively cold weather will prevail in the highlands, while it will be moderate in the Badia, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, the department further said. Today, temperatures in the capital Amman will range between a high of 15 degrees Celsius and a low of 6C at night, while the port city of Aqaba will see a fair 25C, sliding to 15C at night.
