Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Boosts Prize Pool for Jiu-Jitsu Championship

Abu Dhabi: H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has directed an increase in the prize pool for the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship to AED3 million. This move is aimed at nurturing athletic talent and empowering athletes in a competitive environment that maintains high professional standards.

According to Emirates News Agency, this initiative highlights the role of jiu-jitsu in enhancing societal quality of life due to its positive impact on character building, discipline, mental wellbeing, and physical fitness. Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Al Hashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, expressed gratitude to Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed for the support. He emphasized the commitment to the growth and advancement of the sport in the UAE.

Al Hashmi mentioned that the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation's board of directors now has a greater responsibility to translate this support into effective programs. These programs aim to inspire athletes to develop their skills and provide optimal conditions for achieving sustainable athletic and social success.

He further noted that jiu-jitsu has evolved into a way of life that promotes public health and sports culture, elevating wellbeing within the UAE community. The championship has become a national initiative that strengthens Abu Dhabi's position as a global hub for combat sports. This reflects the UAE's dedication to fostering niche sports and expanding their international presence on the global sporting calendar.
