DEATH TOLL IN PHILIPPINES TYPHOON RISES TO 12: DISASTER AGENCY

At least 12 people have died in the strongest typhoon to hit the Philippines this year, the disaster agency said Friday, as the storm uprooted trees, toppled power poles and destroyed buildings.

“As of now the monitored or initial casualties number is about 12 in total from all those regions affected,” said Ricardo Jalad, executive director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, referring to deaths
