Amman, Jordan – The Department of Statistics (DoS) in Jordan and the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) signed a cooperation agreement to advance the capabilities of DoS specialists using innovative sources, technologies, and methods.
According to Jordan News Agency, Signed by Haidar Fraihat, Director General of the DoS, and Yongyi Min, Chief of the Sustainable Development Goals Monitoring Section of the UNSD, the agreement is aimed at providing high-quality, classified, and certified data to policymakers, decision-makers, researchers, and all data users. As stated in a press release issued on Sunday, Fraihat noted that this agreement is timely for the DoS’s objective of establishing an interactive data center aligned with global trends in data collection, analysis, and distribution. The department is committed to strengthening cooperation with various stakeholders to develop an integrated statistical system. This agreement marks the beginning of a four-day workshop, including technical meetings with the department and partner institutions, to devise an appropriate work plan for the project. Yongyi Min, during the opening of a related workshop with the United Nations team, highlighted the significance of this agreement in supporting the DoS, enhancing bilateral cooperation, and defining future stages and plans.
