‘Digital Justice’ tops challenges of digital transformation: Egypt’s IT Minister

DUBAI: Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), has highlighted the various challenges that governments encounter during the digital transformation journey. Foremost among these challenges is the expansion of digital infrastructure to attain digital equality.

This is closely followed by efforts to promote digital literacy and awareness, and to empower as many citizens as possible to effectively engage with technology, thereby enabling them to harness the full potential of these advancements, he added.

In a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of the World Governments Summit 2024, he said, “The summit grows year after year, its importance increases and its goals are consolidated. The current version focuses on developing digital systems in the various participating countries to enable governments to provide better, more governed and more accessible services to their citizens.”

He added, “What is encouraging is that most countries are seeking to pr
ovide more digital services and train their employees on various technologies, information and communication technology to enable their citizens to compete effectively and efficiently in the labour market today and tomorrow.”

The Egyptian Minister indicated that artificial intelligence (AI) is an opportunity and a challenge, and all governments are seeking to benefit from the high features offered by AI, including the enormous ability to analyse data and extract value.

He called for caution with technologies and establishing the foundations for benefiting from them and avoiding their risks.
