ABU DHABI: The Republic of Trkiye is participating in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2024 with a large pavilion offering diverse publications catering to various age groups.

Nizar Kara, Head of Publications Department, and spokesman for the Turkish Pavilion, told the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that Turkiye is taking part in this year’s event with representatives in literature and publishing. He sees this year’s participation as a result of their participation last year when Turkiye was the guest of honour at the 2023 exhibition. Kara emphasised the strong cultural exchange between the UAE and Turkiye and their dedication to strengthening this collaboration.

Kara also pointed out that last year’s edition showcased a strong presence with large pavilions and was an exceptional opportunity for them, attracting over 20 publishers and writers from Turkiye. They capitalised on this opportunity last year to organise literary events aimed at strengthening ties with Arab and Emirati publishers, and also held b
usiness meetings, resulting in the signing of numerous copyright contracts and sales and purchase agreements.

Kara further added that Turkish books have been translated into Arabic and featured in several Arab pavilions, reflecting fruitful cooperation in the cultural field, particularly with the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center for translating Turkish books. He explained that approximately 20 books have been allocated for translation.
