Dozens of female students suffocated today after inhaling tear gas fired by Israeli military forces directly toward al-Samou’ Secondary Girls School during a military incursion into the town of al-Samou, south of Hebron, according to local sources.

The Directorate of Education in southern Hebron condemned, in a statement, the attack on the school by the occupation forces during a military incursion into the said area and the firing of tear gas canisters toward the school, which caused dozens of students to suffocate. Several students were taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

Yasser Saleh, Director of Education in the South of Hebron, denounced the occupation’s vicious attacks and subversive actions against schools, which fall within a series of ongoing violations that reflect the occupation’s policy of targeting schools in violation of international norms and instruments that guaranteed the inviolability of schools and children’s right to education.
