Dubai Customs honours media partners


DUBAI: In recognition of their unwavering support for Dubai’s trade sector, Dubai Customs celebrated its local media partners for their incisive reporting on trade initiatives and tireless efforts to amplify the department’s commitment to facilitating smooth trade operations and protecting the community.

The ceremony convened as part of the 9th Customs Week, which is held under the theme “Digital Empowerment: Forging Impactful Partnerships”.

The ceremony was attended by Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director General of Dubai Customs and CEO of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation; Mohamed Jalal Alrayssi, Director General of the Emirates News Agency (WAM); and the heads of editorial boards of media outlets in the UAE.

The ceremony showcased a captivating visual presentation highlighting Dubai Customs’ recent media triumphs. These achievements have propelled Dubai’s voice on the international stage and demonstrably advanced its progress on key global competitiveness indicators, exemplifying its commitment to a
thriving future.

Ahmed Mahboob Musabih said, ‘Our national media is a vital driving force in sustainable development, fostering societal values and civilised communication. Partnering with our national media, we’re advancing sustainable development, promoting societal values, and fostering civilised communication through their vital role in amplifying our successes on the ground, including government sector advancements in simplifying procedures and offering leading, innovative services that attract foreign investment.’

For his part, Mohamed Jalal Alrayssi said, ‘The media amplifies the significance of the UAE’s remarkable progress across all levels, from local development to global leadership, a testament to the UAE’s visionary leadership and dedication to continuous advancement.’

The ceremony included honouring media representatives, as well as the winners of the Media Communication Award for the year 2023.
