Egypt, Albania sign 3 cooperation documents

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and his Albanian counterpart Edi Rama on Saturday co-chaired an extended talks session to discuss ways to enhance cooperation their countries.

During the session, Madbouli expressed Egypt’s pride in its historical ties and extended relations with Albania, hoping that Rama’s visit would represent a starting point towards further cooperation between the two countries.

Egypt hopes the first meeting of the Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, to be held in Tirana in November 2021, will offer a supportive framework for these relations by shaping a clear action plan to enhance cooperation during the next stage, he added.

“We also hope that efforts to support economic, trade and investment relations would result in the establishment of a joint business council between the Egyptian Businessmen Association and the Albanian Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry,” he further added.

In turn, Rama said both Egypt and Albania share many common denominators, foremost among which are history and culture, which necessitate strengthening bilateral relations and taking them to broader horizons.

He urged enhancing rates of trade exchange by setting clear goals and plans for its development according to methodological foundations, pointing to the importance of strengthening cooperation in several fields, including agriculture, livestock, water, culture, education, and others.

Rama also expressed aspiration to operate direct flights between Cairo and Tirana, pointing to the successes made by airlines in the Albanian market.

He expressed his aspiration as well to benefit from the Egyptian experience in organizing exhibitions, hosting cultural events, and improving education.

Madbouli ordered the bodies concerned to study the Albanian side’s proposal to operate direct flights between Cairo and Tirana, and to develop a clear vision for it soon.

Concluding the session, the two sides attended a ceremony to ink three cooperation documents in the culture and museum fields.
