In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that this “disgraceful act provokes the feelings of hundreds of millions of Muslims around the world”.

In the foreign ministry’s statement, Egypt warned of the danger of such acts that offend religions and fuel hate speech and violence.

Egypt also called for upholding the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence and for preventing all forms of offense against religions and their sanctities through such extremist practices.

“These extremist practices are inconsistent with the values of respect of others, freedom of belief, human rights and human fundamental freedoms,” the ministry stressed.
