Egypt condemns repeated violations of Al Aqsa Mosque’s sanctity

Egypt deplored on Monday the repeated and escalating violations of the sanctity of Al Aqsa Mosque, carried out by Jewish extremists in full view of the Israeli occupation forces.

In a press release issued by the Foreign Ministry, Egypt stressed that the continuation of these violations, the imposition of restrictions on the movement of Palestinian worshipers and the performance of their religious rituals, and the continued attempts to change the legal and historical status quo in Al Quds (occupied East Jerusalem), are a flagrant violation of international law.

Such provocative acts constitute dangerous escalation that undermines the chances of achieving a just and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian issue and the realization of the two-state solution, it added.

The Foreign Ministry, meanwhile, warned of the danger of continuing provocative practices in the vicinity of Islamic sanctities in the Temple Mount, as they intensify violence, and put more obstacles in the way of efforts to resume the peace process.
