Minister of International Cooperation Rania El Mashat on Sunday discussed in a meeting with Heike Harmgart, Managing Director for the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean (SEMED) region at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) cooperation in renewable energy.

The encounter comes in light of Mashat’s periodic meetings with bilateral and multilateral development partners to follow up on the joint underway projects and future partnerships.

On her part, Harmgart lauded the great efforts exerted by Egypt to achieve development, as well as the country’s preparations for hosting the UN climate change conference (COP27) that will be held in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El Sheikh in November.

She said the EBRD is willing to cooperate with Egypt in priority development projects.

Since 2021, the EBRD has invested over €8.7 billion in 145 projects in Egypt, with 76 percent allocated to the private sector.
