Egypt, Germany discuss 2nd phase of debt swap deal

International Cooperation Minister Rania Mashat and Mario Sander, the head of the Department of Development Cooperation with the Middle East at Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, have discussed a debt swap deal between their countries.

 

 

The two sides conferred on the third tranche, worth 54 million euros, of the second phase of the deal, a statement by the International Cooperation Ministry said on Sunday 9/10/2022.

The meeting also took up development projects that are being implemented in cooperation with Germany, read the statement.

They also discussed joint cooperation under the umbrella of the “Noufi” program, and preparations for the Egyptian-German government negotiations for the year 2022.

The “Noufi” program is meant to finance a list of green government projects in the fields of energy, food and water, under the umbrella of the National Strategy for Climate Change 2050.

It has been launched as part of Egypt’s preparations for the climate conference and in support of national efforts in the field of climate change.
