Egypt greatly succeeded in combatting illegal immigration – minister

Emigration Minister Nabila Makram affirmed on Friday the State’s great success in combating illegal immigration over the past years, a matter which was lauded by the related international organizations.
Makram was speaking during a symposium on illegal immigration, organized by the Migration Research Unit of the Centre for Economic and Financial Research and Studies (CEFRS) of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science (FEPS) in cooperation with the Emigration Ministry.
Makram pointed to the presidential initiative of Decent Life to develop Egypt’s countryside, which directly contributes to improving the quality of life of villagers as well as training the youth in these villages.The ministry is ready for cooperating with the FEPS migration unit through illegal immigration experts and academics to rethink reasons that push the youth to illegally immigrate, the minister added.She valued holding this symposium, especially after Telbana Tragedy, in which a number of Egyptians, from Telbana village near Mansoura city, were drowned in the Mediterranean Sea off the Libyan coasts.
