Egypt participates in 17th meeting of COMESA Peace and Security Committee

Assistant Foreign Minister for African Organizations and Blocs Soha Gendi presided over an Egyptian delegation participating in the 17th meeting of the COMESA Peace and Security Committee.

This comes within preparations to host the 21st COMESA summit in December in Egypt’s Red Sea resort city of Sharm el Sheikh.

In a press release, the Foreign Ministry said the meeting discussed the latest developments concerning peace and security as well as reports concerning a number of issues having to do with early warning system, mediation efforts, maritime security and reconstruction in post-conflict stages.

Gendi also stressed Egypt’s keenness on supporting security and stability in all member states.

During the meeting, the participants greeted Egypt over hosting the COP27 in 2022, noting that they are sure that Egypt will defend Africa’s interests as Africa is the most continent affected by the climate change phenomenon.
