Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad asserted the Egyptian government is paying a greater attention to climate change issue, even before the choice of Egypt to play host to the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP27) to the UN Framework Climate Change Convention (UNFCCC).
Given the fact the Egyptian government is well aware of hazards of bad impacts of climate changes on all walks of life, added Fouad in remarks while attending a conference, held by the British Cultural Center on Thursday 9/6/2022 under the theme “From Cop26 to Cop27 climate summit.”
The minister said climate changes are posing serious threats to our planet, and thus affecting the development process in both developed and developing countries equally.
Climate change phenomenon cannot be dealt through adaptation and mitigation only, she said, pointing out to the national Strategy for Climate Changes 2050, launched by Egypt as a comprehensive and integrated strategy.
Egypt will remain committed to implementing all international agreements in this regard and developing its national contributions as far as climate change issue is concerned, according to her.
