Egypt, Singapore discuss increasing intake of low-carbon foodstuffs

Environment Minister Yasmin Fouad discussed on Tuesday 4/10/2022 with her Singaporean counterpart Grace Fu the importance of increasing the intake of low-carbon foodstuffs.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the pre-COP27 meetings in the Congolese capital Kinshasa.

During the meeting, the two ministers agreed to offer some low-carbon foodstuffs as part of efforts to change the eating habits of food with the highest carbon footprint.

The Singaporean minister urged countries that have pavilions at the COP27 conference to present their successful experiences on the issues of energy, agriculture, water, biodiversity, emission reduction, youth, women, and civil society.

Earlier in the day, Fouad attended a panel discussion on climate change as part of preparations for the COP27 conference, which will be held in Sharm El Sheikh next month.

Fouad said that the panel discussion tackled the expected outcomes of the COP27 conference.

She noted that an agreement was reached on the importance of solidarity to accelerate the pace of climate action.
