Egypt, Somali ink MoU on boosting cultural cooperation

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and his Somali counterpart Hamza Abdi Barre witnessed on Monday the inking of a memorandum of understanding between the Egyptian Culture Ministry and the Somali Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism.

The MoU was signed by Culture Minister Nevin El Kelany and her Somali counterpart Daud Aweis Jama.

Kelany said according to the MoU, the two sides will hold exhibitions for fine arts and traditional crafts and festivals and visits for the art teams in the fields of theater, music, and folklore.

Under the MoU, the two countries will enhance cinema cooperation by exchanging movies and visits of those who are working in the cinematic field in addition to intensifying participation in film festivals.

Somali will be welcomed to take part in book fairs, held in Egypt every year, Kelany noted, adding the two sides agreed on holding cultural weeks and translating Somali literary works into Arabic and Arab literary works into Somali.
