Egypt, UNFPA probe means to cement cooperation

Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El Saeed discussed with Natalia Kanem, Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), means to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The minister had a meeting with Kanem in New York on the sidelines of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2022.

The theme for the 2022 HLPF is “Building back better from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) while advancing the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”.

The minister shed light on Egypt’s efforts throughout the past years to guarantee access to education, medical health and housing.

She noted that public investments increased over the past years with priority given to health and education sectors.

Egypt also pays attention to address the overpopulation issue and empower women, the minister said, underlining the great effects of the presidential “Decent Life” initiative nationwide.

For her part, Kanem probed means to enhance cooperation with Egypt on the issues of population and national project for family development, voicing the fund’s readiness to increase cooperation on this score.
