Egyptian Border Guard forces positioned along the southern frontier foiled an attempt to smuggle into the country large quantities of arms, ammunition, and drugs.

The illegal shipment was carried by two four-wheel-drive vehicles, which are used by terrorist elements in an infiltration attempt.

The confiscated items include 13 machine guns, five guns, several types of rifles along with a number of FN machine-guns and a satellite phone in addition to 162 bullets.

The Egyptian Border Guard forces also seized 1 million illegal drug pills.

All the necessary legal measures have been taken against the smugglers.

The move came as part of efforts exerted by the Egyptian Border Guard forces to stop the infiltration of militants and foil their schemes which aim to harm national security.
