Egyptian figures call for lifting the unjust siege imposed on Syria

Cairo, SANA- The Egyptian professor of political sociology, Dr. Mohamed Sayed Ahmed, has condemned the economic blockade and the unjust sanctions that Syria has been subjected to for years.

In light of the new humanitarian catastrophe Syria was exposed to after the earthquake, the free people of the world must move to lift the sanctions immediately, Sayed Ahmed said in a statement to SANA correspondent in in Cairo.

Sayed Ahmed added that the Syrian people need all possible support after the earthquake catastrophe that came in light of the existence of an economic siege, and therefore the international organizations must support Syria to face the repercussions of this catastrophe and move to lift the sanctions imposed on the Syrian people.

“We call for lifting the siege imposed on the brotherly country of Syria, and we call on the international community and the international public opinion to listen to the groaning of mothers and children who suffer due to this siege and unjust sanctions,” leader of the Egyptian National Progressive Unionist Gathering Party, Haitham al-Sharabi said in a similar statement.

Al-Sharabi expressed his condolences for the families of the victims and those affected by the earthquake.
