Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received a phone call from Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on Saturday to discuss a number of files related to bilateral relations and regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said that the two top diplomats explored ways to advance relations between Egypt and India, and agreed to strengthen consultation and coordination mechanisms during the coming period and arrange for ministerial-level talks in the near future.

Shoukry was keen to express to his Indian counterpart his hope to see a strong Indian participation in the UN climate conference, COP27, that Egypt will host in its Red Sea resort city of Sharm El Sheikh in November.
