The Egyptian Armed Forces announced Tuesday its participation in Egyptian-Saudi Air Exercises “Faisal 2” which is carried out over several days.

The first phase consisted of lectures aimed at the unification of concepts, and sharpening the skills pertaining to the administration process of the joint air operations planned for the exercises.

The operations included hitting hostile targets, and fending off attacks against vital utilities using multirole combat aircraft. According to the press statement, the exercises showed the high level of competency enjoyed by the forces of both countries.

The Egyptian Armed Forces mourned on Friday the killing of two Egyptian peacekeepers and the injury of another in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion while carrying out a mission in central Mali.

All necessary measures are being taken in coordination with the United Nations, the Armed Forces added.

The Armed Forces also offered sincere condolences to the families of the victims, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

The three army personnel were part of the Egyptian peacekeeping mission in Mali.

Earlier in March, the Armed Forces mourned the death of two members of the Egyptian peacekeeping forces in Mali in another explosion.

It was announced that the incident incurred the death of two soldiers and the injury of four others.
